The Supreme Court Summer Institute (SCSI) for educators, a partnership with Street Law, Inc., held its 31st annual sessions in June. Each of the two six-day institutes brought 29 middle and high school educators from across the country to Washington, D.C. for an intensive professional development. The educators studied the structure and function of the Supreme Court, with an emphasis on teaching students critical thinking skills and strategies for civil discourse. During this immersive experience, the teachers learned from experienced appellate attorneys, attended a non-argument session at the Supreme Court of the United States, and collaborated with professional learning groups to apply the material to their own classrooms. Collectively, these educators will reach over 6,000 students in the 2026-2027 school year.
Feedback from the programs included high praise for both organizations, with a commitment from many to share their new knowledge with students and colleagues at home.
