Joel Richard Paul

 

Joel Richard Paul is the Albert Abramson Professor of Law at the University of California Hastings Law School where he teaches constitutional law. His most recent books are WITHOUT PRECEDENT: CHIEF JUSTICE JOHN MARSHALL AND HIS TIMES (Penguin Random House) and UNLIKELY ALLIES: How a Merchant, a Playwright and a Spy Saved the American Revolution, (Riverhead/Penguin), which was named one of the best books of 2009 by The Washington PostHe is currently finishing a book on the rise of American nationalism before the Civil War.
