The Supreme Court and Mount Vernon Host A Joint Lecture Program on May 1 & October 8

The Society returns to in-person programming beginning with a collaboration with George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The two-part series begins on May 1, at the Supreme Court with a lecture by Professor Gerard Magliocca on Washington’s Heir: The Life of Bushrod Washington. Professor Magliocca’s book is the first biography of George Washington’s extraordinary nephew, who inherited Mount Vernon and was Chief Justice John Marshall’s right-hand man on the Supreme Court for nearly thirty years.

On October 8, the series moves to Mount Vernon for a lecture with Professor Lindsay M. Chervinsky. She will share an authoritative account of the second president of the United States that shows how John Adams’s leadership and legacy defined the office for those who followed and ensured the survival of the American republic.
