Join the Society on September 17th at noon for a conversation on the role of the Solicitor General of the United States under the Constitution and the Rule of Law with former Solicitor General of the United States Noel Francisco and James Duff, the Society’s Executive Director, in celebration of Constitution Day.
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Publicly funded educational institutions and federal agencies celebrate the day by providing educational programming about the history of the Constitution.
Noel Francisco served as the 47th Solicitor General of the United States (2017–2020). A distinguished appellate advocate, Mr. Francisco has argued numerous landmark cases before the Supreme Court of the United States involving constitutional law, administrative law, and significant questions of public policy. He is a partner at Jones Day, where he represents clients in high-stakes civil and criminal litigation, regulatory challenges, and government investigations. Mr. Francisco earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Chicago and clerked for Judge J. Michael Luttig of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court of the United States. His extensive experience and deep understanding of constitutional issues make him a leading voice in modern appellate advocacy.
