WHEREAS, Vincent (Vince) C. Burke is stepping down as a long-serving Vice President and Trustee of the Society, and the Supreme Court Historical Society is losing a generous and knowledgeable supporter who continued the legacy of his father, Vincent C. Burke Jr. who served during the formative years of the Society;
WHEREAS, his willingness to give unselfishly of his time to support the Society over a span of nearly twenty-five years—serving as a Vice President, as a Trustee playing an active role on the Executive Committee including serving on various committees, serving as chair of the Gift Shop Committee, sharing his banking expertise, playing an essential role in the renovation of the Gift Shop, attending innumerable Society-sponsored events, hosting Society lectures, participating in many Society activities, and serving as a liaison with the Clark-Winchcole Foundation to facilitate important grants that have underwritten the costs of many critical projects the Society has undertaken in the last twenty-five years;
WHEREAS, he has been an important ambassador of the Society in many ways and has provided extraordinary support to the Society as it strives to accomplish its educational mission to preserve and promote the history and heritage of the Supreme Court of the United States;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the members of the Board of Trustees of the Supreme Court Historical Society hereby express the Society’s profound appreciation of, and gratitude for Vince’s many contributions to support the Society and its mission, and commemorate that expression of gratitude by adopting this Resolution of Tribute which will become a permanent part of the records of the Supreme Court Historical Society.
FURTHER, be it resolved that a copy of this Resolution will be provided to him as a tangible expression of the deep gratitude of the Society.
